Be Like Paul
What is a bully? I mean, when you really get down to it? A bully is a thief. His or her goal is to rob you of yourself. To make you feel like less of the person God created you to be. That's enough to make me angry!
And even as I type that, I realize that God loves bullies. He does! He created them as sure as he created you and me. But by acting mean and ugly toward other people, a bully is doing what we all do: trying to pump himself up... to get praise for himself. Man... I've certainly been guilty of that, even if I didn't do it as a "bully".
Our Knock 'Em Down with Love (KEDwL) campaign doesn't want to make bullies into villains. Ka*Pop wants to "turn the tables" on their bad behavior. Because we believe that God has something better in store for them.
Just think of Saul in the New Testament. Man, that guy was practically the ultimate bully. He not only mistreated Christians, he was having them put in prison (Acts 9:1-2)! Yet Jesus—even though he'd already gone up to Heaven— made a rare personal appearance to Saul on the road to Damascus. Jesus blinded him (!) and shook him up enough that Saul changed his entire outlook on Christ and his followers! With a new name, "Paul", this former bully became one of the greatest witnesses of the early Church. Wow!
Like Saul, a bully wants to take. And belittle. And pump himself up. I'd rather be like Paul! He loved. He served. And he pointed everyone he met to Jesus.
